Who are we?
A partnership between academics, non-academic researchers and archivists who seek to record and study the population of Tasmania. Our collective aim is to construct complex longitudinal and intergenerational data sets that will drive world class visualisations, site interpretations and research as well as providing the tools to empower communities to tell their stories.
Get involved
How do I get involved? There are many ways to become involved in Founders and Survivors. We endeavour to capture the work of the many researchers, academics, family historians and volunteers engaged in digitising Tasmania's past. If you are keen to try your hand at transcribing or to embark on more academic research we'd love to hear from you.
Search convicts on the Tasmanian names index
Founders and Survivors contributes records to the Tasmanian Names index which offers a nationally acclaimed portal that will provide you with access to well over a million digitised Tasmanian records. There are also a number of other public heritage sites including Trove and Port Arthur Historic Site.
